"Meeza thinks itza bouta time for us friends to gets our space glassicals togezza again....."

(that's the best Jaja Binks I can muster, I am afraid to say :P )

Who's up for a starparty on the night of 21 October? I am still scopeless, so desperation to observe is setting in right about now....

Howdo all,
Is it ok for a complete newbie to drop by and use the site as well.
I recently got a 8" LX90 and I have been itching to get to any dark site outside of central Sydney.
What time do people arrive at , I assume before dark and is there any power points for a scope on the site.
Any other itesm I need to bring, other than the scope ?
Does anybody have a link to a map to the destination ?

regards

Noel

Hi Noel!

You're more than welcome. Most people arrive between 5 and 6pm, some a bit after if they have kiddy commitments at home :)

If it's your first time, it's probably a good idea to arrive before dark so you have a chance to find the place and setup.

There is 240v power on-site, best to bring an extension lead and power board as well, as there may be one or two others wanting to use power as well.

Don't need to bring anything else.. hope you have a red light torch?

Here's a map:
Kulnura Map (250k jpeg) (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/downloads/kulnura_map.jpg)

Hope the weather clears up! Look forward to meeting you there.

Noel, it will be great to have you along! We always welcome new faces. I was exactly in your position when I first purchased a scope last year, and I had a ball meeting the Kulnura crowd and learning about how to use my scope, and how to improve my observing skills.

Joe and Octane both have 8" LX90's, so if either is there, you will learn stacks of new things about your scope!

18-10-2006, 10:04 AM
this is still the place is it?

iceman
18-10-2006, 10:43 AM
Yep, the field is the light patch at the very bottom of the image, just to the right of the middle.

It's not the same one we were at last time you were there h0ughy (ages ago). Scott knows the new place.

Froggy

H0ughy will probably want to know where the "hedgehog" eating area is ?

frogman
19-10-2006, 04:48 PM
OK.... hedgehog slaughter and eating area is now marked in orange ... so if you have a weak stomach, do not enter these areas !
and the RED cross is for "the others" :D

I was sorry to hear about the weather...while I ate ramen noodles in Tokyo I had visions of the great time you all had without me...

Let me know if folks are going to try and get together this next weekend...I'm back home now and ready to see some night sky!

Rodstar
25-10-2006, 06:55 PM
Scott, weather permitting some of us will definitely be there, me included!

See you there. I am looking forward to hearing some travel stories (c'mon, you must have something??!!)
