one of my favourites.
20x120 L bin 1
10x120 R bin 2
10x120 G bin 2
10x120 B bin 2
taken using takahashi fsq106 and sbig SBIG STL-11000M.
was originally much wider field but had to crop it down to get rid of some the stacking artifacts. Still trying to figure out how to get rid of them.

Thanks. Does anyone know what would've caused the dark vertical line to the left?

Hi Hobbit

Did you take this in Sutherland using RGB or did you go somewhere else?
I live near the beach at Curl Curl, north of you but similar distance from the CBD, and I would have thought light pollution would have been a problem for RGB.
Nice pic.

Uneven coverage? Artefacts in darks or flats could do it, not sure if you used those.

There's a nasty blue hue across the whole frame that's screwing up your colour balance and washing out some of the nice red stars in the field. Aside from the odd strip, the data looks good though.

Cam

Pretty image. Well done.
Second one looks real nice with the black bground, and I don't think there's much of the nebulousity lost for the end product.
Really like it.

Nice going, Hobbit! A good result.

The sensor might have some bad columns that didn't calibrate out. It's a common problem with big sensors and causes dark vertical streaks when they get smeared out by dithering. The solution is to use a rejection map during calibration.

Also, your background has a blue cast. There's a lot of blue in the object but there should be some areas that aren't completely blue (there should be some brownish dust in that FOV for a start)

Cheers,
Rick.
