Had good skies last night (Nov 29th) and took this 30 sec single exposure pic of the Orion nebula thru a LX600 (alt az mounted) at prime focus using a Canon 550d camera. Still experimenting. Thanks for viewing. Cheers, JW.

Good start John. Did you have noise reduction enabled? With ambient temps being higher at this time of year, you need to use the lowest ISO
possible if using an uncooled camera.

Hi Raymo,
Yes I had noise reduction on. And I used high iso 6400 (I've been experimenting with high iso). Also modded camera. Thanks, John W.

I remember doing a few of those myself.
What's the LX600 like?

Hi Jennifer,
The LX600 is a good scope - I use it in alt az mode. Astrophotography of moon is great as exposures are short, DSOs take a bit more work as you are exposure limited by field rotation. But I enjoy using it. Cheers, John W.
