That's a good start, Adam! M42 is actually a pretty difficult object.

Hi Adam,
That's a great first shot :thumbsup: . You've achieved good dynamic range across the image and the core isn't overexposed, I like that.
For your next attempt you could rotate the camera, reframe, and you might be able to squeeze NGC 1977 in as well (Running Man Nebula) :)

Thanks RickS and Evan :thumbsup: I managed this dodgy attempt with bad PA around the same time but I'm very keen to have a crack with my 8inch this summer with much rounder stars..
