Howdy
After getting home from the cinema the moon was already up so after doing some drift aligning to recheck polar alignment I shot the Tarantula Nebula with the Baader 7 Nm Hydrogen Alpha filter. 10 inch f5.6 newtonian modded 350D camera, IEO 400 2x20 minutes hand guided, moon well up at the time. 1 dark, 1 flat and 1 offset processed in IRIS, Blue and green channels discarded, then masked and finished in Photoshop and Noiseware. Still a bit noisy, would be better if I did another 2 or 3 exposures but was enough hand guiding as it was lol.

Great image Scott,
the Ha filter certainly does bring out a lot of different details in the image.

Thanks everyone :)
I only did this image on the spur of the moment too, after seeing the moon was up I was nearly going to pack up the scope after polar aligning and leave imaging for another night.
My next project is to turn Berts 300mm lens onto the lmc with the Ha filter

love the H Alpha detail despite the noise..have you tried combining with an RGB image? wouldnt mind seeing a side by side comparison-rgb vs ha/rgb
