Still processing Astrofest data! I've been leaving this until last as there were so many stars in the field I couldn't get a look I was happy with. Not sure about the colour in this version but I do like the dusty look.
This is just under 4.5 hours from Astrofest using the SN10/QSI683/EQ6.

Good one Peter. You've got to come to Snake Valley. The LMC gets nearly right up ahead.

Star colours are nice, Peter. I'd ramp up the colour of the nebula some more but that's just me ;)
That sounds great, Marc! One day...

Tempting! If I end up having a break next year I think that might be one the cards!
Thanks Rick. I was struggling to increase the colour in the neb without the stars looking too red/orange. Played a lot with PI star masks today but couldn't get it to include the smaller stars.

Yes, that can be difficult.
I don't know if the histogram on Astrobin is accurate, but it looks like you could push the black point to the right without clipping. That would give you a bit more colour as well.
Cheers,
Rick.

A sharp, deep, grit-free image Peter, and subtly processed.
Perhaps you could bring out more of the overall drama of the area if you stretched the very darkest detail a bit less.
Best,
Mike

Thanks for the feedback Rick, Geoff, Mike and Trish. I gave this a few tweaks this morning.
Here's a new version:

Hi Peter,
that's looking better.
You could do more with it if you'd taken some shorter exposure sub frames
for the areas that have exceeded the well depth - like the center of the nebula -
& blended it in later.
I would have processed it slightly differently but then again everyone's
version would be different.
cheers
Allan
