Not sure if you guys on the dark side have heard about the above. It is the biggest bush fire the state has seen. Three times bigger than the Northcliffe fires in January this year. Four people have died and two more are unaccounted for. My condolences to all the affected families. Gotta feel sorry for the poor farmers down that way. Most have had ten years of bad crops due to drought and this was going to be a bumper crop. I am very familiar with the area, as I spent a year in Esperance playing footy as a young bloke in 1967. I have been back many times as I still have mates down there from my days in the area. Hopefully the Western Ground Parrot will be safe as the fires are north west of their area. It is believed that there are only about 150 of the species left.
