I am offering up my ASA DDM85 Premium. It was purchased in March 2013.

Current cost new in Australia would be aprox $38,000AUD.

I will part with it for $19,000AUD + Shipping Costs, by direct deposit.
It comes with the specially built equatorial (bent) pier that will need to be altered for your latitude by a having the angles of the pier rebuilt/re-welded. With this pier - No more meridian flips!!!! :eyepop: No wasting time when the target is at the meridian and giving you the best data. The pier is made by ASA and is an awesome piece of engineering - not a locally made clone - very heavy duty. This pier is amazing and fantastically easy to acheive accurate polar alignment with the excellent ASA software - AutoSlew software - make a superfit model. Sequence software is included to automate the whole nights imaging - no need to buy software such as CCDAutoPilot.

It is rated to carry an OTA up to 100kg. I am parting with it because my OTA is too heavy for it. You can see the mount in operation here as well as images taken recently with this mount:

State of the art - no periodic error direct drive mount! No need for guiding!! :eyepop:

MLPT (Local Multi-Precision Tracking) is currently the fastest method for ASA DDM mounts to precisely track without an autoguider. With MLPT automatically a "local" pointing model will be created to ensure a particular celestial object is tracking superbly without autoguiding. The operation is quite easy to achieve - success in a few minutes!

Another DDM85 user who images, without autoguiding, with an ASA DDM85:

As much as I wanted to get this, I do have my eye set on the DDM60 at the moment (it's cheaper!), probably won't even be able to consider it until mid next year :(

Hi Colin,

If I am not out of line, I would have to say that the Australian agent for ASA - Cris at astronomyalive.com.au , has been beyond fantastic in supporting me with my ASA DDM85 purchase and with after sales support - he has put in above and beyond happily for the best outcomes always. I will be using his services in the future wherever I can.

I hope that doesn't break any rules - I have no connection with him personally or professionally or with his company - I am just a very happy customer.

I wish you all the best Colin with your gear acquisition!!

Cheers,
Tim
