I found this little fella while out looking for owls. He was so close I couldn't get him all in the frame.

Cheers Reverend.

I wonder how many lose their night vision in a lightening storm ;). Have you ever heard of any humans losing their vision due to a flash? I haven't .
I use a red LED torch.

Cheers Rev.

No worries Matt.
I have been doing night photography ( birds and animals) for a long time now, and the safety of the creatures is always my top priority. I locate them with a 5 watt RED LED torch, and usually only take two or three pics and let them be. The RED light doesn't affect their vision at all. From what I have witnessed they appear to recover very quickly from the flash.I have walked up to within 10 mtrs of a fox using it. :)

Cheers Reverend.

Great pic up close and personal, Reverend!
Gotta love the little critters.......

We had a house guest a couple of years ago (stuck in a crevice) who stayed around for a few days after being rescued.....

Nice one Rev,
We also have a few that think our backyard is a great Restaurant as Carol leaves the food scraps out for them.
They will quite often just sit on the lawn watching me at the telescope.
Almost trip over them some nights.

I'm not a fan of the brushtails - they are kind of big and make a yucky grunting sound. The ringtails on the other hand are quite small and cute. I have loads of them in the backyard - I've counted around 10 in one roll call without even trying.

Thanks boys. The Ringtail is on the endangered list over here due to habitat loss..
Cheers Reverend.
