View Full Version here: : Monopod suggestions
Hi!
Anyone have suggestions for a monopod? There are so many choices out there!
I have a pair of 11x56 as well as the 8x42
I am guessing something that holds up to 3g
Is there anything I need to know before I start serious looking
Thanks

Manfrotto 562b-1. Not cheap but really really good, especially if you're taller than the average bear.
Just be sure to buy one that is tall enough. For astro it should be at least as tall as you are.

I just used the extendable handle from my paint roller
I made a screw on adapter to hold my 10x50s and it works well for purpose.
( Doesnt look very flash tho :D )

Thanks guys for the info I had come across that link to the binoculars info for mounting, it is certainly interesting, that's partly why I am looking for monopod suggestions.
Andrew I would like to see photos of the paint roller version, sound interesting!!
I will check on the manfrotto as well!
Thanks

Gday jmb
Here she is.
The central section is just a bit of folded 1mm aluminium plate
that is long enough to allow me to rotate the binos into a
comfortable vertical position.
The orange bit is the handle of a deceased paint roller.

Thanks Daniel, I will check those out
Thanks Andrew for going to the trouble of getting a photo so I could visualise....it is a masterpiece. I think I might be able to put something together.
Where Do you put the binoculars ??

One barrel on each eyeball
If you go to the previously noted link
http://binocularsky.com/binoc_mount.php
mine works very much like the "roof prism L bracket"
I have beady eyes, so needed to get the binos closed up tightly in order to see properly. By using the folded alloy plate, i can close em up as tight as possible, without any interference
