After much deliberation (yes, I like to talk to myself.... ) I have decided to sell
my beautiful little 3" Takahashi Fluorite setup.
The scope is a previously unused Takahashi FS60 Focuser and visual back to which I added
a brand new 105mm Takahashi CSV Optical tube and then
a Takahashi FC76D Objective unit,
a Takahashi Camera Angle Adjuster,
an 'non-offset' 80mm Tube Holder and
a Takahashi 6x30 Finderscope and bracket.
The scope is in absolutely beautiful condition. There are a few minor marks on the finderscope, the Clamshell has minor marks only at the mounting bolts (not visible when set up).
The reason I went this way is that the Objective unit can be detached and the whole scope will fit into any normal on-board luggage with a Porta II mount head. (Tripods travel in cargo bay).
The other reason was that I wanted a setup that would allow binoviewing at native and this can be done by removing the 105mm section of the tube and attaching the Objective unit directly to the focuser thus shortening the lightpath by 105mm (same as the lightpath of most binoviewers)
The CAA allows easy use on GEM mounts.
Scope is as pictured in the first 4 pics, the 2" VB and Diagonal shown in the last pic are not part of the sale.
Pickup in Canberra is free, freight is extra.... and must be insured for the full value. (I prefer Pack&Send - Depot to Depot)
$1800 (a bargain when you consider that just the Objective Unit will set you back about $1700 posted to you)
Scope buyer will have first option on a Vixen Porta II head which has an inbuilt adapter for 3/8" Photo tripods......
