Hello. This image consists of 3h 30m of luminance data with 2 hours of red, green and blue data all 5 minute subs. I also took 10 second LRGB data and 30 second LRGB data to reveal the core. All up 9h 30m worth.

Taken with my Tec 140 on an AP1100 with SBIG STT 8300 with self-guiding filter wheel.

Nice work, Mark! You've dealt with the dynamic range really well and produced a very tidy image.

M42 is always a challenge with the high dynamic range but it looks like you've managed to rein it in well Mark. A great image and thanks for sharing.

Superb round stars. Looks great overall. Perhaps needs a tad more punch.

Looks great to me Mark. The colour is good, stars are round and back ground is smooth. If you went deeper with the imaging your could end up with the same depth I got when I imaged this target a few years back. I like the image in any event. :thumbsup:

Thank you all and yes I am very happy with it. Greg I am in love with my stars in this one and Paul this was my trial image and as soon as that moon goes away I intend to get the roughly the same amount of hours as you beautiful image from a few years ago and see what I can do with that. I really am enjoying my imaging and only wish I had a permanent observatory so I didn't have to set up and pull down on a nightly basis. On the positive I am in central Australia dark skies but the 40 plus degrees during the day would melt my gear. Thanks again.

I used a Desert Storm scope cover at one stage before I built my observatory. Its quite thick and insulated and it might be worth looking at.
