Another Monkey Head - Corona Australis

Long time, no post a fully-own image here! Al Sam has been helping me with getting my Paramount MyT up to speed, have had annoying problems guiding, so I was real pleased to finally see pretty sharp stars at a whole 4 minutes exposure on Saturday night! EDIT - I've also had to battle learning the entire 'The SkyX' suite, no mean feat!

This popular winter target was setting real quick and low, so I can't wait to give it a longer treatment next year, as ever I always want more data, but even I was surprised what the Sony picked up in just 15 shots of 4 mins each at ISO3200.

Looks quite decent, Simmo. It's a tricky target especially to get the dust and the glob looking good at the same time.

You certainly did get a bright image there. Lot of dust detail. I plan to attach the a7r to the Honders at some point out of curiousity to see what it does.

Hey Simmo, I think you have that same problem again you had with that NB image of the Pelican...? Once again, there is a nice image in there, I can tell, so what ever you did to fix up that Pelican last time, do the same here mate :thumbsup:

Colour looks good Simon. Detail is good too. The stars are little harsh looking to me though in the full res image. Great field of view.

15x4? Seriously?

What 'scope are you using?

...this is just 60 minutes of colour data.

So much dust and totally saturated stars. Wow!

I think I need to toss the CCD...no way I could get that result with 15 tries of
4 minute exposures.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll see what I can do. Mike, I can't even remember what you suggested with the Pelican, so I'll revisit!

Love your comment Peter! I need to experiment more on sub lengths, but after using the cam for up to 8 mins, I'm starting to think that 4 mins is its real sweetspot with good star colour maintained.

You NEED to do that Greg! A few of us are busting to see what the cam will do on a decent sized reflector, as compared to my puny 130
