Hi Guys,

I have had thoughts about this for a while and finally decided to look if there was any options out there

Basically I have an NEQ6 mount and I would like to use my second DSLR (Canon 7D) as a widefield camera while my 5D is taking photos through the scope and also use the 7D as a counterweight as well.

Now I have found one option for this but I'm not sure if I like the setup.

Does anyone know of something similar I can have a look at?

Thanks!

Matt

Never thought of doing that! If I ever get imaging I may try it. I have the Orion version of the EZEQ6 so I could probably put the second dovetail puck on the counterweight bar and then I just need a little bit of dovetail to mount a DSLR on.

If the thread is the same could the second dovetail puck form an AZEQ be fitted to the counterweight bar of an NEQ6?

I could take lovely pix of the Ob walls with that ....

I was thinking of trying to get some sort of dovetail that can screw into where the safety thumb screw for the weights goes and then attaching a tripod head some how.

That way I can move it around and get different objects.

Lucking (most likely unluckily) I don't have an obs so I don't need to worry about that

There are plenty of nylon tube clamps that could be used to clamp a tripod platorm onto the counterweight tube. Just wander through the Whitworths website or catalogue until you find the one you want. It would be pretty easy to construct a tripod foot out of carbon fibre sheet and attach to the tube clamp with a bolt.
There are also heaps of clamping devices to attach cameras and gos units to bike handlebars, many if this could work.
Of course being that this is going to sit on a scope it no doubt has to be machined from a solid billet and then anodised to match the focuser colour scheme - people make this stuff to hard and to expensive.

That is exactly how the second puck on an AZEQ6 attaches. It just gas a thru bolt in the middle that goes in place of the safety screw.

It would need a bit of car though to make sure you were not simply imaging the tripod legs though! But it would let you image the northern part of the sky through the scope and towards the SCP with a counterweight camera.

It has actually given me a handy idea, I am just a little bit light on for weight to balance my scope with the supplied weights unless I put the extension bar on (Which I do not want to) even without a camera, if I put the puck on it will probably add enough weight to bring me into nice balance.

Thanks Pat!

That second link is exactly what I was looking for except for the SW NEQ6. I will see if there is another one that company makes that will fit my mount
