Hi All

Just wondering if anybody out there is doing any amateur radio astronomy?

I would like to do some and I have been thinking about it for a while, done a little bit of research. But I want to do something more graphical (image wise), instead of just the script recorder charts you see.

Any inspiration, information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Especially software wise.

I currently have an Icom IC R7000 receiver that I plan on using eventually.

Don't want to spend a fortune though - I know you are laughing right now at that statement .

Cheers

Gav

Given the astro gear you already have why not consider Spectroscopy instead? Radio astronomy these days is all about computer processing of signal, pretty boring stuff if you have ever listened to it. I used to run the SETI desktop app, which processed block of SETI data, it ran in idle cycles on my PC. My son ran it on his as well. You could watch the app display the processing of the data block and then report back to the SETI main site. Obviously in all the years of SETI distributed processing nothing was ever found. Background 'hiss' is not really very rewarding which is why computers do the work. Sure you might be able to listen to a pulsar but that gets old quickly.
