View Full Version here: : Schickard and region - image & map

Hello,
Last night I was out Lunar gazing and imaging, and grabbed an image of Schickard. The seeing appeared to be quite good, with moments of incredible clarity, but overlaid on this was a high frequency shimmer which kept the image, albeit sharp at times, dancing and shaking over the screen.
Anyhow, after a little Registax stacking, here is the result with a screen dump from RITI Lunar Map Pro V4.
Cheers

Nice one Dennis. Looks like you got the better of the seeing last night. Either that you you have a few tricks you need to share ;)
sweet!
its great that the moon can be imaged from a thin sliver all the way to full. and to think i wanted some one to blow it up! :)

Thanks Guys.
Yes, it was a weird session. The jet stream map promised more than the seeing actually delivered. When I got outside around 8:00pm it was quite ordinary and then towards 11:00pm things began to improve and I was staring down the barrel of an all nighter. Some 30 mins later it went ordinary again so I packed up the same day I woke up but still managed to go to bed on a different day.

That's a great image Dennis, the map really helps to put it into perspective.
I have just downloaded the Virtual Moon software so I'm hoping that will help me find my way around, I'll give it a go tonight.

Nice shot Dennis. This is what I managed to get of that region last night as well. It is part of a larger moasic which I rate as 90% successful.

Just processed that area I took with the barlow last night... looks liuke I've got a long way to go till I can get images like yours Dennis.
Meade LX90, Astrovid Stellacam, 2x barlow, 10 second video captured to Medion Portable Multimedia Player at 320 x 240, stacked and processed in Registax 3.

Hi Tony
A very nice set of images there - well done. The mosaic is really well done. You have controlled the huge range of brightness very well and maintained all the detail.
When will we see a completed full moon version?;)
Cheers

I will doo something in a few days... when there is a bit more detail on the terminator. Finding time is a bit of a hassle.:)
