Inspired by Slawomir, here's a kookaburra that was sitting in a tree in my backyard (but not in the old gum tree....).

It actually came back a few times during the day and the following day. The other birds didn't seem to like it much as you can see.

Awesome shots Marty, I love Kookaburras, they appear to me as intelligent birds and their calling at sunrise/sunset is so full of energy

May I ask, what lens did you use Marty?

I might be wrong, but I think it is a Common Myna having a go at the Kookaburra.

Always an arresting Bird. I like the last one best. They are HUGE images!

Yes, you are wrong! :P It's a Noisy Minor, an Australian native (unlike the Indian Myna) but very aggressive. They will try to chase virtually anything out of their territory. I've seen them try, and fail, to move crows.

I do like them. Very classic Australian bird and their laughing call is awesome.

The lens is the kit telephoto zoom lens I got with my Canon 700D. Full zoom I guess (200mm ?)

Because the bird wasn't too bothered about me being there, plus I could walk around from a vantage point below to one above it, I could take a lot of close up shots at full zoom. I have piles of images, but just put up those four.

Did you mean Noisy Miner? :P

But more seriously, thank you David; I am a very lousy ornithologist...
