View Full Version here: : Film - "The Visit"
Hey guys,
Has anyone seen this new horror film? I like a good scare but I remember all too well the cruddy ending to the first of M Night Shyamalan - The Village

Why pay to watch ugly things
If you want a good scare, let your neighbour's kids play with your best telescope
Also interested to hear some opinions. Also a fan of being scared, unfortunately the horror genre can be real hit and miss. I just watched "Unfriended" the other day. Wouldn't have described it as scary, but I was a fan of the way everything happened via the computer screen.

Me too H.
Funny how the not-expected-ending films throw many people.

The beautiful red-head had nothing to do with it, I swear. :P

She's OK, but reminds me too much of her father!

I thought Bryce was pretty darn nice when watching The Village, then I put 2+2 together with her last name ... and it wasn't quite the same.
The Visit might be worth a watch, but I think I'll wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray/streaming release (so I can turn it off if it's too gory or an awful film).

The Village (2004) was not Shyamalan's first. His jump to fame I reckon came with The Sixth Sense (1999) starring Bruce Willis and Toni Collette. It established him as the purveyor of surprising endings and snatcher of A-list talent.
Another well-received one was Signs (2002), with Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix.
Most of his films don't fit the familiar Hollywood mould and are often panned. Some are by and large stinkers (The Happening, Unbreakable), but still worth watching once for the quirks and surprises. Some are dismissed unjustly IMO, such as Lady in the Water (2006) with the ever brilliant Paul Giamatti and also Bryce Dallas Howard.
I haven't seen After Earth yet but that's just a matter of time. I will most likely watch The Visit as well, when I get a chance.
