Hi All,
just wondering if anyone has had any experience writing ASCOM drivers, in particular to drive an arduino. i have a ROR observatory and would love for autopilot to close the roof after the imaging session is complete or if bad weather is detected. my roof (electric gate opener) takes commands from an arduino and i can't find the info i need to link the two up. any information or tips, sites, videos etc is much appreciated

The guys on the stargazerslounge yahoo group (automation team) wrote ascom drivers for arduino stepper motor focusers. Surely that yahoo group have the answer you need.

Thanks Mike, i posted to the group and got some info back, it seems that it is not that difficult to do. i might have some fun building some more ASCOM compliant hardware eg weather detection, focuser for my guidescope etc.

I used their details and drivers to build my focuser for my 300/2.8 lens setup and am currently adding temperature compensation.

that is fantastic! the fact that we can even do this sort of thing DIY is great. what would we do without ASCOM

just wrote my first ASCOM driver and it works beautifully. now my roof can be closed by CCD autopilot

Outstanding Aidan.
Great work.
I am amazed by what arduino gives us the capability to do as amateurs. Focusers, dome /obs automation, I can open my garage door with my mobile phone, and I can turn on my computer with my phone too. Arduino is amazing.

i absolutely love them, i have started my next project which is arduino weather monitoring with ASCOM driver ...
