View Full Version here: : Prom from the 16-17th!
It's been a while since I have done any Ha stuff but the large prom at the moment spurred me on to get my gear set up.
The first pic, the double one was taken yesterday and the seeing was ropey enough so I thought if I was out earlier today it would be better.
I was wrong, the seeing was shocking.
Still for first shots in a while so I'm happy enough.

This is probably a silly question, but does the sun look like it's surface is always moving, like oil in water? Or is it just like a solid image?

Nice detail in these images Jarrod, great captures.
Thanks again Gus!
Not silly at all!
When viewing with a Hydrogen Alpha scope the sun is very dynamic and yes it does move somewhat but it is generally slow moving so everything will look static but come back 15 minutes later and you can notice things may have moved.
Most of the movement is associated with the proms and filaments changing shape or lifting off and when a flare occurs you can see a bright spot develop and recede before your eyes.
Even on a spotless sun it is never boring in Ha.

Thanks for getting back to me :) I'm really new to astronomy and the amount of stuff we can see blows my mind. I never thought it was possible to see the sun, apart from in puctures.
