Another target I wanted to try from QLD. I managed to get a couple of hours and combined it with some previous data, same scope that I shot from Orange. I pushed it really hard to show the brown dust around. Very noisy and not as deep as H's version but I'm quite happy with the colors on this one. Not too green ;)

HD version is here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/M45_FSQ_HD_B.jpg)[2.5MB - 1920x1247]
and a full field 1:1 here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/M45_FSQ_fff_B.jpg)[5.4MB - 3348x2175] but don't look too close. It's pretty noisy :P

Looks nice, Marc. How much data did you have?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks guys.

Probably a little over an hour from astrofest and 30min from Orange. I really should have a lot more integration time for this one. On my todo list next outing if it's not too low.

What focal length was this at?

Thanks Bob. It's an FSQ106N so 530mm. Superb scope. Just driven by a monkey on rare occasions.

It is looking good for 1.5 hr of data, has to be hard to bring everything out without a lot of data to play with :)

Excellent image, Marc. The fine tendrils of nebulosity are beautifully captured. Nothing lost. Stars very sharp too. We like it a lot.

Should we start being incredibly cynical?

Great image Marc, you certainly managed to get a lot of the dust out with not a huge amount of data.

Nice going Marc. So beautiful watching them rise every night, rather than cursing fog :)

Great image.

 No, it's an ok pic but not worth any Ooo Ahh. :)

Thank you. I'll definitely add to this one. It got a little short changed at Astrofest spending all this time on the veil instead.

Thanks Rob. Yeah we definitely got lucky with the fog by the sound of it. I've heard stories.

Another great M45 from Oz! I'd like to travel to dark skies and shoot it with Hyperstar one day, Maybe a two panel mosaic?

Looks really good, Marc! Great result!

In the middle distance it is beautiful, but can also be appreciated up close :-) , nice job considering your battle with noise!
