Driving home, sunny morning, Black Keys channeled through the car,
I then see her.
Clad in her wetsuit, bold with purpose and freedom
Her locks wind swept like the mane of an Arabian mare,
Her gait flowing, determined & graceful.
And it is her shape that pushes my spirit to rejoice!
The form of womanhood, fecund & primal
That stirs the millennia of evolution what makes
Men weak at the knees & strong to move mountains!
Oh Bronte Woman - forever seared into my soul.
I just had to share a wonderful vision I had of a beautiful woman I saw this morning. It was only a fleeting glimpse I managed, but the joy was exhilarating. I'm not normally moved to write a poem, but this morning was special. Forever special.
Alex.

Hi Alex,
very moving moment I'm sure.
One tip I would pass on is this ... never use 'fecund' in a poem.
Firstly, there's no way it sounds like a nice word; it doesn't even roll off the tongue smoothly. But mainly because there's only you on the whole planet knows what it means without googling it ;)
Other than that, it's nice that this vision of loveliness moved you to write a poem.
If it wasn't your wife, then does your wife know about it?
If she does, I'd get the dog to taste test your coffee each day for the next week or so ;)
Best wishes matey

Ah! I thought you were going to talk about Emily Bronte!
What this site needs is more poetry!!
And I like fecundity, it's a word I have often used!!
Very nice vision of the woman in black. I imagined it a bit like Bo Derek when she emerges from the surf in that film with Dudley Moore called " Ten"
Francis T. Palgrave, ed. (1824–1897). The Golden Treasury. 1875. Lord Byron CLXXIII. "She walks in beauty, like the night" SHE walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that's best of dark and bright Meets in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellow'd to that tender light 5 Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

So when can we expect the drawing?

Agree with Alex - this post needs pictures/drawings :)
Was coming home yesterday after attending a guest lecture at Uni. A vision of primordial desire crossed the road... fiery long red hair down to her immaculatel shaped bum... a pure vision of lust.
Twas then I realised it was the wife and I snapped out of my fantasy and realised I had to go home and look after the kids.

Sketch, Alex, or it never happened. :P
 Nothing to worry about here. She'll probably get the dog to taste his Coffee every morning without him knowing.

I see her on the train every day, sans wet suit. Strangely, she never sits next to me...... Unless I close my eyes!

Hi,
They're an unromantic lot here Alex. I'm definitely going to cruise Bronte a lot more.
You have to have something in mind to go there deliberately though. It isn't like Coogee is it?
Cheers

I think Alex at a minimum needs this to go with his poem:

Sketch, eh... well, this time I'm gonna leave it to your imagination...
Funny enough, I did pick up a pencil and sketch pad and started working out a pin-up illustration for a project I've started planning. Needless to say that this morning's vision served as inspiration.
I did find a lump of plaster in my coffee one day. But that was by a disgruntled co-worker and not my wife. The missus is not so vulgar. She will have me slowly go mad over a number of years. They never forget... never...
It was nice to be able to channel these emotions this way. Doesn't always happen. 'Special' is a word being much used today.

My intention with posting the poem was to show how attractive confidence can be. To celebrate by being able to admire with tenderness. Certainly without being insensitive.

Men + talk about beautiful women = sensitive? Errrrrr, not usually :)
I know what you meant Alex, and it was indeed charming and meaningful, but I think the train is the wrong size for this gauge track...

Eye's off me Misses, mate !!:D
Too right !!! :violin:
It's a beautiful poem Alex, you are very talented! You must have an understanding wife - does she know :P ?
Because if I caught my hubby writing a poem about a beautiful woman, I'd club him over the head, drag him by his hair, tie a rope around his ankles, hang him upside down from a tree branch, before throwing a bucked of blood sucking leaches and ticks on him  :innocent: .

Hi Suzy,
Thank you for your compliment.
I can see how some people would see the poem as some ode to infidelity. But it really is nothing about that. It is about seeing a rose, but not stopping to smell it...
:) I suppose what works for some, doesn't work for the rest of us.
I guess as long as there's good communication, understanding and honesty between the couple, there's no problem. And you are a rather creative soul - i.e. sketching, telescope making, poetry, astronomy etc. So I guess writing about beautiful women is another hobby :P:lol:.
Still... despite after what I just said above, none of that would cut it for me .
I applaud you for being able to have the freedom to express your thoughts without holding back, in your beautiful poetry.

More to the point - would he enjoy the ministrations? :P
Perhaps something like this......
There was a stupid husband who's eyes did wonder
On a blonde sheila by the beach here Down Under
So then he decides to write about it in his blog
But sprung him I did so I smacked him with a log
He lay there with a headache and asked for two Panadol
I said $%^&*@! off I'll watch you suffer till next nightfall.

LOLOL you love him truly then?
It's okay, I already have a ton of songs written about me :D.
Though some songs carrying my name don't portray me too well . My full name is Suzanne and in one of those songs - Fire & Rain (one of my favs) - James Taylor goes on to sing, "Suzanne the plans they made put an end to you" - charming :scared2: . Wait. I just realised... the comments I made earlier don't help my case :prey2:. On the upside, the Hollies kept apologising to me :P .

I found this old thread of mine. I had visions of Bronte Woman going through my mind today as I worked on a Christmas present I was making for my wife. She did read my poem back then, and nothing "adverse" happened. On the contrary :D:D
My kids on the other hand were totally horrified! :eyepop::eyepop: They could not believe that I even looked a another woman, and to write a poem was akin to cheating on my wife and them! They found the draft piece I wrote on paper, and oh my gosh, weren't they upset!!:lol: Just too young to understand. Bless their innocence and loyalty :) Even now, years later, they still bring up their anger towards me over this poem! :D:D
I've since seen many other Bronte Women around here. All beautiful, all a joy to be able to rejoice my own masculinity that finds them attractive. A source of inspiration and levity. And my wife, Queen of them all.
