All,

This is data that had been sitting on my hard drive, neglected, for five years. Shot in August 2010, on a DSLR, this was quite low on the horizon and the image shows it; there's an abundance of noise exacerbated via stretching.

I thought I'd attempt a process on it as I was out early one morning last week and I saw these gems sparkling in the north-eastern sky. I look forward to re-imaging them this year with the CCD camera.

Overall, I'm not terribly excited by this image, but, thought I'd post it anyway.

Slightly larger version available here (http://scratch.hqphotography.com.au/m45.html).

Thanks for looking!

you captured a lot of nebulosity and dust in that image, great stuff

Thanks for sharing H. Certainly a gem from the archives!
Be keen to see what you can do if the weather co-operates too. :)

That's pretty good for our hemisphere, H! Lots of faint dust, well done!

Looks MUCH nicer on FB and your site H - looks grainy with the IIS compression.

I am with Pat's sentiment. I like it actually quite a lot.

Really glad you dusted that off and posted it. The orange background colours are gorgeous. Nicely balanced. In more cropped versions we see nothing but blue.

Your caption here (http://scratch.hqphotography.com.au/m45.html) does not indicate that you shot it in 2010...

BTW: While I agree there's some noise, it is none the less a nice image. Make's me wonder how much "forgotten" data is out there that could be combined into decent, if not spectacular results...
OIC!

Thank you, all. :)

I did a search for "m45 Pleiades" in the deep space forum and didn't find any wide images showcasing the dust. I can't wait to retry it with the CCD!

OIC, I've just fixed the HTML (I was using my last image's file as a template and forgot to put the year in after deleting 2015). :)

Excellent dust collection H. Nice colours too. Not keen on the postage stamp size but that is the only critique I have. Nice field of view on this object.

That's a very deep M45. Love the amount of dust that surrounds it.

Great one H! I actolly don't see all this noise you are complaining abou, to be is a very good M45, especially since imaged from down under!!

This stunning image makes me go back in time, when with the Canon 350 rebel unmodified were beautiful photos of the Pleiades for his sensitivity towards the blue. Now times have changed and it is great to appreciate all the colours information on this wonderful subject!
Cheers,
Fabiomax

Many thanks, all! :)

Starting my next project shortly, so, Pleiades may have to wait until next year.

Definitely well worth 'dusting' off this data and processing the image. An inspiring result. I'm looking forward to having a shot at this very soon with the 200mm EOS lens on the QSI.
