Boys, boys, boys.
There's a very high standard again this month and the comp isn't over yet!
Anyway there's only one more sleep until the new challenge is announced.
ok, so anounce it already!!! :D
Well it's over and this one was another very close contest.
I must say a big well done to everyone but especially to Mike (Sharnbrook) for his awesome image of the frog, to Phil for his fantastic image of the frog and Stuart (Beren) for the stunning Meerkat and Elizabeth (Astro Girl) for the lovely shot of the Tortoises.
(These images achieved a great result on the poll).
Well done to everyone.
Well I guess I'd better choose the theme for next month's challenge.
For October let's have "Anything Australiana" to celebrate this great country of our's.
Thank you everyone for voting and let's see some more great images this month.

Andrew,
Thank you for your comments, but when I first saw your picture of the tiger, and Mike's (Iceman's) lion, I thought it would be 1 and 2 for you both, as they were both superb shots. Congratulations on a shot that fully deserved to win.
What I do find very interesting though, is that there were 39 entries, and only 36 people who voted, and some of those voters would probably not have entered in the challenge. Why would someone enter an image, and then not bother to vote? Funny that.....................
Looking forward to the new competition.
Regards,
Mike

Maybe because they want to win! That is why the "don't vote for yourself" rule is no good IMO. It discourages people who really want to win from voting. I did vote btw. :P
I don't know why that is so, either Mike, it puzzles me too.
I would have thought that if we had 39 entries, we would have had at least 39 votes. Although I know Mike(Ice) was away and had no internet access so he asked me to conduct the poll for him. So that's 1 vote less. Perhaps there were others away too.
Thank you for your kind words.
Mike will start the "usual" October photo challenge thread when he gets back soon.
And I'll be starting the new imaging thread tommorow, it won't be a competition, just a different sort of challenge.

I voted :P
Whats even stranger is that out of 1,324 members only 36 people voted.
Geez, not a lot of interest exept from us die-hard regulars!!!

Congratulations again Andrew. Despite the difficult conditions of shooting through glass, in a crowded environment and hand held at a long focal length, you really captured an awesome moment, and expression, in your photo. You are a very talented photographer to come away with number 3 - a deserving winner.
Cheers

Hi Mike
Welcome back! Andrew’s Tiger and your Lion are certainly majestic looking beasts.
I’ve really grown to like and enjoy the monthly comp; each month I get to think anew about my photography and perhaps visit new places, or try different things in old places. It is also just plain nice to see what other members of the IIS crew have been up to; viewing life through their eyes as they interpret the subject.
It really matters not who wins, because that buzz only comes right at the end, and is generally short lived (at least it was for me in my one and only “win”). Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to have your efforts recognised, but by far the greatest thrill for me is learning something new, seeing something differently, having a new adventure in trying to get a “winning” photo and enjoying the posts of all the entrants. That buzz endures a whole month long and tends not to fizzle out.
However, I do appreciate everyone’s votes, so if anything I do happens to take your fancy, I am always grateful for, and appreciate those votes, cast in my direction!
Cheers
Dennis

Thanks for the welcome back, Dennis! It's great to be back :)
Your sentiments are spot on, too.. while it's a thrill to get votes, which means that your photography is pleasing to other people as well as yourself, in the end it's the challenge and the fun that's more important to me.
RB winning a 3-peat is an amazing effort too, and goes to show that Andrew is truly an artist and can achieve whatever he puts his mind to.. like someone else I know with the initials DS :)
