Every so often i like going back through my old mags {Sky and Space [southern astronomy], sky and telescope, astronomy} and reliving past events like the comet shomaker-levy impact on Jupiter, space expeditions etc {cool to go back and read the Cassini launch and expectations}. I started buying/collecting mags back in 89 , curious to know if anybody else is a collector and how far back your mags start ......just dont realize how many you have until you lay them out :P

Started buying in '86 when the Supernova in LMC happened! My ex threw them out about 11-12 years ago (then I threw her out, well she actually threw herself out) and I haven't bought any since.
I don't have one mag left, and none of the newsagents in Ballarat sell astro mags.

I have all the issues of Sky and Space back to 1991, and the 8 or so issues of Southern Astronomy

Started in 1987, through out a whole heap two years ago, because they were taking up space and I never read them.
Anyway that is good that someone collects them. Be interesting to look at the adds for the SCT's and see how much they have changed with the advent of the micro processor.

I haven't really collected the magazines, although I do have every copy of Southern Sky, my wife bought them all for be from back order. I only really buy a magazine if it has an interesting article, such as equipment reviews or something interesting is happening up there. Earliest mag I have is April/May 1988 Southern Sky complimentary edition.

My magazine collection began in 1985 when I started reading Sky & Telescope and Astronomy. I've kept every monthly issue since then, and I've picked up earlier issues at club auctions. Currently, I have complete sets dating back to around 1980.
Throw in Australian Sky & Telescope and some other astro publications I get, such as my ASNSW club newsletter, there's a new one in the mail at least once a week. The collection is probably just on 1000, and I think the shelves are straining...

I had way to many:whistle:
So I cut back a bit. Astronomy from March 1985. till now.
All of Sky & Space. All of Southern Sky. 17 issues of Deep Sky.
I had 15 years of Sky & Telescope, but donated them as well as Astronomy Now.
New aussie Sky & Telescope now started.
That's enough:P

Ken,
Ballarat has no astro mags?? Last month, I was up in central Queensland. I caught up with fellow IceInSpace member Mick (G'day Mick!) and visited a few country towns with populations one tenth of Ballarat. They all stocked the mag!
I'll look into it. The May issue just came back from the printer today. Don't know if it'll make its way there.
By the way, nice to see rugby league in Victoria. "Dragons" are a great name to choose. I've been supporting St George up here in NSW since 1977. Less said about this year's start to the NRL season, the better...

Thanks Greg! Any info on subscription would help too.
Yeah, league is growing slowly down here. I been a Dragon Man since 1957. We got some very thin affiliation with St.George and our club, but because we are in the VRL we are automatically affiliated with 'Storm' and are supposed to do things with them and Visa-Versa. Ho-Hum.
