LBN 552 is a wide and faint dark nebula that is in the constellation Cepheus. I had seen some images on CN and I was impressed by the complexity and the vastity of the area. This is another of those images that I started last year and, as for CTB1, I put the camera sensor with the wrong angle, so I found myself with good RGB, but unusable over the luminance. This Summer, in spite the weather has turned against the Italian amateur, I managed to re-do the RGB and today I may show you the result of the complete processing.

Very nice Nicola, the dust looks..?..very dusty!
There seems to be a lot of this sort of dust in the northern sky, seems like more than in the southern sky  we have plenty of very faint galactic cirrus but this more molecular material seems to be more prevalent in the northern sky...or am I just imagining things because I see more of the northern stuff in images because there are more northern hemisphere imagers...?

Lovely image, Nicola. It's a difficult target.
There is a lot in the north and it seems to be fairly well known. At SRO we imaged a lot of dust in Cepheus and the northern part of Taurus. Mostly LDN and LBN objects.
We have some similar areas in the southern sky like the Chameleon Cloud. My suspicion is that we have quite a lot of dust but it's not as well known. Once my AP140 is up and running (camera came back this week) I'm hoping to go searching for large scale dust. Will let you know if I find it :)
Cheers,
Rick.

Nice image of a very dusty area Nicola. Plenty of this stuff around the Cepheus region.

I doubt I'll be that prolific unless I get a permanent set up, Mike :)

Thanks a lot folks, much appreciated.
Yes, it would seem that in the Northern Emisphere we are more dusty, but I would probably trade some of them for the Magellanic Clouds quite happily :)
