Hello all,

I was fortunate enough to be in Tasmania for the large aurora display on the 15th. I hooked up with fellow Ice In Spacer and aurora chaser James Garlick and headed to one of his favorite locations Goats Bluff on South Arm. I have hundreds of images from this night including three timelapse sequences that I will get around to putting online one day. This is an eight image panorama from early on in the night. Later on we moved further down the beach to another spot and the aurora really kicked off with a proton arc and "picket fence" formation directly overhead- which matt captured so well from Victoria. Unfortunately the persistent thin cloud moving through made it difficult to get clear shots of this and the full dome panorama that I did during this period has so far proved impossible to stitch properly. I have included one of the images pointing straight up at the picket fence and proton arc.

Aurora Australis from Goats Bluff, Tasmania. 15/08/2015.
Eight image panorama. Canon 6D, 14mm, F/2.8. ISO 3200. 8 x 30 seconds.

It's been a long time since I have seen such a wonderful visual display since moving up north. I don't get the chance to see an aurora up close.
The 6D is doing an excellent job.

Nicely done Greg and cool to see the picket fence from overhead. That part only lasted minutes and was high in the sky for me in Vic so I forgot that would mean it would have been overhead in Tassie. Shame Tassie had lots of cloud as I havent seen a close up or overhead shot of that proton arc would have been amazing from down in Tas

You're in a class of your own Greg. Exceptional subject matter, exceptional composition. Brilliant as usual.
