The first night at Astrofest I imaged the Pipe nebula using a Pentax 67 SMC 200mm lens and QHY10.

For some fun I thought I'd add to it and have produced a Two Panel Mosaic including M8

The Pipe was 35 x 5min subs and M8 was 18 x 5min.

Processed in Pixinsight and stitched with Microsoft ICE.

Comments: That's bloody great Geoff!

Suggestions: None, it's bloody great!...(ok, well maybe juuust slightly too much smoothing/noise reduction?) but still bloody great.

Well done :)

Always wanted to get some good 6X7 Pentax lenses onto my ProLine16803 but never did....

That does look great, love the aperture spikes around the stars. So much going on in that. Do you think you'll add more panels to this?

Thanks Mike, appreciate your kind comments. BTW this lens tends to give a red halo around the stars after batch processing. It took a while in Pixinsight, thankfully i now have a process that reduces the halo sufficiently to give a nice image

Thanks Allan, always amazed at the extent of star fields in this part of the sky

Thanks Mark, appreciate your comments

Jason, not sure if ill add to this one, it was a test to try out a few processes and luckily it all seemed to come together

Cheers Mark, I love the colour pallet in this part of the milky way as well

Very nice Geoff.

Just a hint of purplish/pink chromatic aberration. Chromatic aberration slider in Lightroom gets rid of that or reduce magentas in Photoshop does it too.

Nicely done Geoff. There's plenty going on in that field. and the stitching is very smooth.
