Newbie help.

Hi guys!
Newbie here from Ringwood, Victoria :)
New to this whole business, so forgive me as I don't know much.
I just brought my first telescope, a SkyWatcher 114/900 EQ Reflector Telescope, and after spending a bit of time setting it up, I was unable to view anything. I tried all of my different eye pieces, and tried to focus them all, however I was still unable to see anything. The guy at the store told me if this happened, then to focus it. However, I was unable to see anything even after trying to focus them all?
(The dust cap was off as well :) haha)
Any advice for a newbie?

Hi Emma,

congrats on your first scope, could you see any light/shapes at all coming through? What were you pointing the scope at?

Try using it in daylight at a distant object ,NOT the Sun . rack the focuser right in and out with the lowest power eyepiece ie the one with the biggest number on it , see if you can find focus on a distant tree

Welcome to the boards and the hobby :welcome: keep us posted on how you go with learning the sky. make sure you check out Saturn before it get too low. centre it in your field of view then use your highest power eye piece, definitely the best thing to see in the sky visually

After you find saturn the Jewelbox Cluster is an easy starter too next to the southern cross. Get yourself a star chart program like Stellarium to help you find and identify things in the sky.
