I started down this path, (ie astro photos) after looking at the amazing efforts of others on this site. Time to show my first reasonable effort.
Narrow band image of the Small Magellenic Cloud. Taken from my front balcony in Curl Curl , Sydney, mid August. No luminance data.
3 x 20 minutes Ha, 3 x 20 minutes SII and 3 x 20 minutes OIII. Darks and flats.
After a lot of trail and error with my gear ( WO 132FLT, EQ6 & EQMOD Atik Titan as guider, QSI 683wsg, Sequence generator Pro, PHD2, GoodLook and Photoshop CS5 ) I have finally managed to produce a picture.
I have not stuck with the Hubble pallet. It looked too dull. No science here, just my take on the data.
It’s a very steep learning cuve, as many of you know.
Cheers
Greg

Interesting image Greg Would love to view it in its full splendor.
Do you have a full Resolution version on the net to view it looks a bit pixelated i would assume due to image re-sizing.
Could try Astrobin easy to setup and free.:D

This is a good photo Greg. Well done.
I like the colour choice, gives a nice ghostliness to it.
Look forward to more of your photos in future.

Thank you for your kind comments. I would also appreciate some critical comments as it's a good way to learn.
I have registered with Astrobin and will place the full image there when I know how to do it. I didn't realise the extent of damage to the image when converting to jpg. I never use jpg.
I'll post a note when it's on Astrobin.
Greg
