Hi all,

I don't pay as much attention to IIS right now as I used to, but still appreciate the good group of people here, the good conversations, assistance to astronomy problems, and camaraderie. So, thought I'd better share with you such a life changing event as now being a Dad!

My daughter Ella was born on 29th July. 10 days overdue, relatively short labour, mum is now feeling much better 3 weeks post birth.

Since the 29th I'm pleased to have managed to maintain reasonable quantity of astronomy time while also helping out as much as I can with the screaming kid  Automation of my observatory will be my saviour in the long run, but in the immediate past since Ella's birth the paternity leave has given me a chance to fix a few things with my PC rebuilt and SBIG away for repair :)

Ella's probably equally as demanding as any other newborn. Trying to work out why she's screaming non stop from 2pm - 10pm or 6pm - 2am, getting up at 1am, 3am and 5am, etc. Very mentally challenging at times and I sure hope it gets smoother! Generally things have started to improve over the last week.

Regards,
Roger.

Congratulations to your wife and yourself, Roger. She's beautiful. Don't worry, it only gets better from here onwards. It's a long journey and every moment is good. They grow too fast. Enjoy the moment. BTW you'll get used to sleep deprivation for the first few months :) Gives you an excuse to do some astronomy.

Congrats! Don't be surprised if your astronomy time dries up for a couple of years!
