Blokes and Blokettes,

There's a beaut Astreoidal Occultation event for Tuesday evening for all Sydneysiders.

The star is bright and very red so should be easy with video, even in a small scope. see...
http://occsec.wellington.net.nz/planet/2006/updates/061003_688_6201_u.htm

I have just uploaded a Google Earth map of the path to...
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/daveg/maps/061003_Melanie.jpg

for those who wish to play in GE, load...
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/daveg/maps/061003_Melanie.KML
and save the file as something.KML and then start GE then load the file...easy peasy.

The star is SAO 161211 however my LX90 doesn't have it in it's cattledog, so have entered a USER OBJECT called Melanie at 18h14.8m, -14d52m and I plan to slew to nearby SAO 161275, sync on that and slew the 52minutes to the target star.

Regards
Dave

AFAIK there were 4 observed misses across Sydney. So we were all stood up by Melanie!
