One of my goals this Astrofest was to capture things I can't capture in an image taken from home, so I decided to go for some integrated flux nebula. This IFN in Apus I found quite interesting with the largish galaxy IC4633 prominent top left (I first noted this target in images by jase and RobF I think - thanks).
Found it very difficult to get the colours right. Seems a bit yellow/orange? I wanted to bring out some blue in IC4633, but perhaps the IFN masks it a bit?
Also soon realised I needed more data to stretch the data any more. Was the best I could do without it soaking up all of my time up at Astrofest.

Just looking at it, I can see how LITTLE there is to capture! You picked yourself a very difficult target there.

Are those astrobin details right - 40 x 8 sec shots? If so, that's pretty cool.
Nice image anyway. :)

Whoopsy. No, it was about 40x8min subs. I'll fix that.

A very nice rendition of what is a nebula very dear to my heart :)
Although more often portrayed a bit brighter and slightly more blue-grey I think the slight darker brown is probably closer to reality.

Very impressive Troy. Interesting how the dust appears to originate from the galaxy.

Nice work, Troy! Mandel-Wilson 9 is on my list of future targets too.
Really nicely done Troy. Would have been a processing challenge, but looks natural rather than overdone. First read about this in a David Malin book from the 80s. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all. Was very tempted to push it a bit further, but decided to show some restraint. Certainly needs more data before attempting that.
