I started this one just before having a loan of a TAK flattener, went on to do a lot of tests on the flattener and only now have returned to finish processing (if there is such a thing). I think I'm finished with globs. No flattener on this one as evident in the corners a bit. I sure looked at Mike and Trish's image a lot! Dark sky and 20" is hard to measure up to, not to mention processing skill....

I'm not too sure about the core brightness so I've posted 2 versions.

That is a great image! Both versions are wonderful, maybe I like the dimmer one more on my iPad.

yep excellent work Peter. it certainly is glob hunting season.
the 414EX appears to be doing the business - I have been wondering about the 414 and 428 performances, there doesn't seem to be a heap of shots out there, this looks great.

Cheers

Very big thanks to all that have commented!!!

Russell, the poor ATIK 414EX was reduced to a superb guide camera through my ONAG giving a super wide field. Totally unnecessary for this shot done with my Moravian G2-8300 with multiple guide stars. Where the ATIK will shine is in shooting things like the Horsehead. Automating without a rotator has led me down this path.

ahhh that explains a few things Peter and you clearly stated it in the description too - I think I need an early night
