This morning instead of working on the mosaic version of my M16 data, I played around and created this from the core instead.
Eagle eyed observers will note the image contains some sharp lines from the sub overlaps. ;)

Although I was just messing around, it did allow me to try a few more things in PixInsight, and I'm happy with the detail that appeared on this attempt.
Any feedback or comments welcome.

The colours remind me of icecream. :)
You need to edit your link; it points to http://astrob.in/202615/0/%EF%BB%BF -- the %EF%BB%BF is non-existent.

Fixed up my lame cut'n'paste - the link should work now.
Enjoy the ice cream in a larger version. :)

Thanks. :)
I'll be going back to a more "traditional" palette for the mosaic (Hubble, probably), but I might do a special edition like this one. I like the colour mix.

Like Humayun, I really like the almost ice cream or marshmallow colours on this version Chris, very attractive

Ice cream, marshmallows... The wife thinks it's like fairy floss. You're all sweet food obsessed. :)

That's a colossal effort Chris- over 40hrs of integration! The image is very smooth, nice work

Thanks Slawomir.
Those 40+ hrs are now possible thanks to the backyard observatory. I can go out each night and grab a few hours before bedtime (and still almost get enough sleep for work the next day :) ).
I'm having troubles trying to work out the mosaic though, because I do not think I did enough sets in each orientation to enable each panel to be drizzled. This core area worked (mostly) because it's drizzle data from everything that overlaps for the registered base image.
I suspect that I'll only end up with a slightly larger area in the final mosaic than what's shown here. However, next year I might be able to get more data to add to it (I've run out of time and sky for it now to get all the extra data I really need).

Good to see the new obsy bearing fruit, Chris, though it appears to be strawberry ice-cream :D
