Hi everyone
My question is regarding my travel scope which is a skywatcher 80/400 which sits on an alt as mount.
The focuser is just a standard unit and I find that I miss the crayford from my 10" dob. And focussing is a little bit more difficult.
I have noticed that bintel sell crayfords for these scopes and I'm wondering if anyone has replaced the standard focuser with on of these crayfords.
Is it a straight forward fit? Can I do it myself?
Thanks
Peter

Generally,if it is made to be a direct replacement, you just unscrew the three screws around the focuser end of the tube, remove the old one and insert the new one.

Possible problems
Paint can bind the focuser in the tube and it can be a little difficult to remove.

The length of each focuser is important. If the new focuser is too long you may need to cut the tube back a little. Too short and you might need an extender.

If the diameters don't match, you can often buy diameter adapters.

The new focuser might be heavier than the old making it less portable in terms of luggage weight for air travel. Obviously not suggesting it will make it too heavy to carry.

The people at Bintel are very knowledgeable. Call them and ask.
