I am selling my first full frame DSLR - Nikon D700. It has worked flawlessly for a number of years but had been sitting in a cabinet for the last 12 months so it is time to pass it on. I am looking for $550 + postage.
The camera had an eventful life and I took some great images and timelapses with it (some examples shot exclusively with this camera: http://vimeo.com/24253126 http://vimeo.com/28487411 http://vimeo.com/26709319).
The total shutter count is at 167,000 but the shutter and mirror work and sound like new - never missed a beat. It had suffered a fall on top of Mt John in NZ in 2012 and as the result the screen protector broke (which I replaced) and left a small scratch in the centre of the screen (see last image). The screen works fine and the scratch is not visible when the screen is on. The crack in plastic above the viewfinder appeared after the same incident. I checked thoroughly and the fall had not affected sensor alignment - the lenses focus as they did before it fell and no misalignment was detectable in the star field images. There are other minor signs of use which do not affect the operation.
I will include the D700 body, charger, 2 batteries, 32 and 8GB Sandisk CF cards and a home-made external power supply which you can use to power the camera all night.
I also have a Samyang 35mm f/1.4 Nikon Mount lens (no chip contacts) that I may sell if someone is interested. The lens works reallly well for landscape astrophotography at f/2.
Inspection and trial use is more than welcome if you live in Melbourne.
Please PM if you are interested.
Cheers,
Alex Cherney
