M83 - up close & in mono

Hello all

Thought that I'd get a bit more out of this data set considering its about 4hrs worth of luminance - but I guess it is from the 'burbs of Melbourne...

This was taken some time ago with a C14 + Starizona corrector working at about 2800mm FL with a QHY9 camera. Sky gradients were a real pain that I just couldn't quite control in the end. Its about a 70% crop of the original image at 80% of original size. JPEG compression probably hasn't helped either...

Hi Lee; I massaged some of the brighter starts back into shape a bit (not a lot), but other than that it was basically DDP with a bit of selective histogram stretching and a little noise reduction - although there is still plenty of noise there!

Great work Maurice! As I keep saying here, there is no substitute for magnification obtained from long focal lengths when doing galaxy work. This image clearly shows that. I'd been keen to see this project finished with some colour data. Will be an even greater result no doubt.
