Hello all
Thought that I'd get a bit more out of this data set considering its about 4hrs worth of luminance - but I guess it is from the 'burbs of Melbourne...
This was taken some time ago with a C14 + Starizona corrector working at about 2800mm FL with a QHY9 camera. Sky gradients were a real pain that I just couldn't quite control in the end. Its about a 70% crop of the original image at 80% of original size. JPEG compression probably hasn't helped either...
Cheers

Heaps of detail there Maurice, with that real smack you in the face view. I look forward to the colour version.

this is fantastic, great detail, it would be cool to capture some colour data on this. you have the makings of an amazing image.

Holy crap, how did you manage that at ~0.4"/px? I couldn't even get stars that good at 1"/px! Nice work!

That's an awesome shot, Maurice, with a great image scale. Superb details.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Superb effort. The detail in the galactic nucleus is especially well done.
Really nice detail Maurice. Can't wait to see the full colour version.

Thanks Paul. Image scale can be a good thing. The colour version will be a while though..maybe next year.
Thank you Aidan. Not fond of trying to get colour from the 'burbs... it'll have to wait for a dark sky expedition.
Hi Lee; I massaged some of the brighter starts back into shape a bit (not a lot), but other than that it was basically DDP with a bit of selective histogram stretching and a little noise reduction - although there is still plenty of noise there!
Thanks Marc - cheers
Many thanks Mike & Trish
It'll take a while Rex, but thanks....
Great work Maurice! As I keep saying here, there is no substitute for magnification obtained from long focal lengths when doing galaxy work. This image clearly shows that. I'd been keen to see this project finished with some colour data. Will be an even greater result no doubt.

The C14 has given top results.

Great Image. That's what a galaxy should look like.

Thanks Jason. Agree completely re the image scale.
Colour will come through for this one....eventually.
Thanks Allan. The C14 is a bit finicky to use; but it can get the job done.
Cheers Rob..
Thank you Ray. Picked a few good nights where it was between about 1.7" and 2.2"; makes a big difference.

Your image at high resolution is impressive, it seems to be in the galaxy!
