After seeing some inspiring images of the Lagoon I dug out some old data and reprocessed.
Quite happy with the result, managed to bring out more of the blue fringing the Mike showed us in his image. Also achieved more detail in the cloud structures too.

Here's the original.

Thanks Scott!

The Lagoon certainly has a feast of colour, always a guess on how to process them.

Cheers,

Justin.

A big improvement, Justin. The original was quite decent but the repro is outstanding.

Rick.

That's a cracker Justin! You should really upload them to Astrobin.

that's a great repro Justin.
I was actually processing the lagoon last night, sometimes I'd end up with a whitish core other times purple. this looks pretty natural, so I might have another crack tonight.

Cheers,

Rusty

A very tidy image Justin. Did you specifically perform depth of field processing? The crop has a pleasing 3d feel to it with a sharp foreground and soft background. Well done.

Thanks Rick!

The way the weather is going I'll be doing more repro's, all good though fun to see if I can improve on previous processing.

Thanks Kevin!

Yeh I know .
Got all my images on photo bucket, and being an old fart don't like change.;)

Thanks Rusty!

Do you process your raw images or convert them to tiff?
I nearly always convert to tiff, it seems to preserve colour better and make it easier to process.
It also has an added advantage of reducing the star size, don't know why just my observation.

Thanks Laurie!

I'm happy with the detail, so easy to process it out if I'm not careful.

Thanks Dunk!

Yep loads of colour in the Lagoon, no channel swapping required just saturation.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Jase!

Wish I could say I was intentionally going for depth of field but it's just happenstance.

Thanks Rex!

Cheers,

Justin.
