I finally got my lappy to net connect so I could download 'Desire'. Now I can capture Long Exposures with the Toucam using USB2! (thanks Bert)
This is my first attempt at a DSO using USB2 and I must say, on the screen the difference is remarkable!!! The information gets to the screen much better giving clearer images.
My problem now is getting the polar alignment right (as you can see by my image). :P
It ain't a geat image but at least I'm trying. This was using the ED80 on the EQ1 mount and tracked with the little tracking box. It was -4 degrees and I was freezing so I didn't spend too much time polar aligning. This was a trial just to see how well the USB2 worked in the lappy.
The image itself is rubbish, but I still had fun doing it (and shaking from cold). There are also some bright star reflection artifacts.
Now the challenge will be to try it all out on the 12" on the big EQ.
Orion nebula, ED80, EQ1 tracked, captured in Desire, 15 frames x 20 sec each, stacked in Registax (thanks Asi) and lots of Frost.
Now I know it works there will be no stopping me!!! (except more frost!)
