Hi
This is my first post...
Started getting into this recently. Here is my first try at Eta Carinae.

This was 8 x 90-second exposures at ISO800 plus 8 darks.

My equipment is:
115mm triplet refractor
Canon EOS 700D
NEQ6Pro
Deep Sky Stacker

Comments / advice most welcome.

Pretty good Nick, pretty good tracking, but is almost monotone, could
do with a bit of colour. Your subs are long enough to bring out some
colour. If you look back a little in the beginners' pictures you'll see my
15 sec single frame, and see that even a short sub will show quite a
lot of colour in the Eta Carina Neb.

Looking good, I think the tools in DSS will do the job of bringing out the colour. If you look on YouTube you'll find some videos showing the processing flow using the tools available for adjusting the image after stacking.

I don't know whether you've noticed, but DSS has a pretty good guide to using it in the help tab.

Thanks for all the replies.
Here is my second go at processing Eta Carinae nebula. More red, less pink. I still think the contrast in the first image is better but agree it is washed-out looking.
Here's a go at the Trifid as well - same deal with 8 lights / 8 darks at 1m30s each.

You're making a good start Nick. M20 is very bright, and should stand out. You need to darken the sky a bit to make that happen; also, if
you magnify the screen you will see that the stars are elongated, so either shorten your subs or improve your guiding.

That's a nice Trifid. The first Eta has nice contrast and the second nice colour. If you could combine the best elements of both you would have a winner.
