g'day

tried to take advantage of a few clear nights in a row. so nabbed M16 and the helix. helix is quite soft I think seeing a possibly dew contributed to that (they were shot on different nights).

Funnily, I shot both of these subjects about a year ago with about 2 and a half times more data. Despite having much less data on these newer versions it is definitely a lesson in getting sub length right.

New version is 3 min subs (with ccd cls) the older ones were about 5/7 minutes (no light pollution filter either).

Solid images Russ but I feel like I'm left wanting more, especially on M16. I'd like to see some more 'punch' out of the data. Perhaps push the data harder to see what its capable of. Certainly an improvement over your previous images.

Thanks Paul, yep I plan to do some nb on the helix, its a beautiful object. Looking forward to seeing yours.

Thanks Rick - indeed, lucky there is plenty more improving to be done

Thanks Jase, yes I agree, and I remember how hard it was to process those older images - osc need to find the sweet spot, they aren't like nb where longer subs is always best.

I've had a go and trying to ramp up m16, I couldn't squeeze too much more out of it, more data I think is needed - its a bit thin at 1hour.

Nice improvement on your images Rusty!:thumbsup:

Although I noticed you had better star colour in you first M16.
Must be hard to balance colours in in a modded camera.

Cheers,

Justin.

thanks Justin, yep you are also right about the stars. I think I've struggled with them a lot more since I've started using a light pollution filter.

cheers
