Finally some clear skies!!

Thought I'd celebrate with an NGC 253.

Quite happy with this rendition, I think there's quite a bit of structure floating above the disk I've never achieved before.

8” F/4 astrograph , baader type 3 coma corrector,. HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D plus cooler box. 30 subs x 2 minutes at ISO 6400. and 18 x 4 minutes at ISO 1600 Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop Cs2..

Cheers,

Justin.

So, the annual 253 image season has started already :eyepop:

I was looking at this in the early hours of Sun morning actually, from my dark site, while the AG12 chugged away inside the dome on a much more distant group of cousins and it looked great in the 12" F5 and 17.3mm Delos showed heaps of mottling once it got up a bit...will look better in a month or so when it transits before dawn

Nice work, Justin. I think I can see hints of the faint threadlike structures.

Cheers,
Rick.

Great result Justin. Colours look right on. Were there some sub frames misaligned by any chance? Stars look a little strange.

Very nice, Justin-plenty of detail there

Good job Justine, I like the detail and colour. Considering the short exposure times it turned out quite well.

Just not right to pass up a seasons NGC 253.;)

Thanks Rick!

Not sure whether I can get anymore detail, more subs will help.
Probably at the limit of resolution with my setup.

Thanks Marc!

Thanks Jase!

I think the stars look strange because I stacked and processed the ISO 6400 and 1600 separately.
I used quite a bit of minimum filter on the 6400, I then restacked the two processd images again in DSS.

Thanks Laurie!

A 12" scope would be nice to get that fine detail.

Thanks Rex!

Shall add some more subs later.

Cheers,

Justin.

Yep agree  bit like the Horsehead, Eta Carina Neb and Cen A...actually I haven't shot 253 with the little SX694 on the AG12 :confuse3: ...not sure the entire galaxy will actually fit on the chip though :eyepop:

Should be magic regardless of how much fits on the chip, judging by the results you get from your setup.
Perhaps a mosaic.

Thanks Geoff!

Always nice to image something that has plenty of signal.

Cheers,

Justin.

very nice image Justin - some of the filaments are visible.

Nice to see some sky eh, has been uniformly good quality cloud for a fair while......one clear night a month makes it a bit hard.

Thanks Ray!

I agree, the quality of the cloud has been outstanding, very little of those pesky clear skies to bother us.:D:shrug:

Thanks Kevin!

Thanks Nicola!

Justin.

Really like the colour you have achieved with this. I'm wondering if my LPS filter is causing me grief.

Good work.

That's a pretty good NGC 253 Justin. On my monitor it's perhaps a bit too bluish but that's a very minor criticism.

Yes, David Malin would undoubtedly think it too blue too....but perhaps not a panel of judges (http://www.rmg.co.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/astronomy-photographer-of-the-year/2013-winners/deep-space) ;) :)

NGC 253 is always a pleasure to view.
