Interstate Shipping option

Hello everyone,
I have sold a scope and need to ship it interstate safely. What would be the recommended way to go about it with full insurance? Would appreciate all the suggestions and experiences.

Hi buddy,

I've used e-Go several times and it's always got there promptly and in good condition. Not only that they are cheap and give you the option of saving by allowing you to drop it at their main local depot, have the receiver pick it up from the local depot at their end, or any combination. I have always shipped stuff door to door and it's still much cheaper than many other shipping options.

As I recall, insurance was optional with e-Go

I always use the Interparcel online booking service. They will give you quotes on the spot for a choice of carriers and send you the bill of lading document, address labels etc immeadiately via pdf. Pick up is arranged by them. The carrier will pickup from your door, just get them to sign the paper and off it goes.

I've used them for at least six years and used to send out my products through them when I ran a small business.

I just sent a gibson guitar to Perth from Brisbane door to door with e-go for $14. Insurance cost $50 for a $600 cover but cheap as chips.

Pack and Send.

It'll probably cost about $600 insured but it will arrive quickly and in good condition. That includes the packaging. I shipped my TEC180 (was about $980) overseas with them and an AP140 (was about $650) and TEC110 to Brisbane no problem.
Insurance was slightly negotiable they start at 3.5% of value and will got to 3% if you ask. I don't think Aust Post will insure for these larger amounts.
Take lots of photos of the scope, case and packaging.

I would not try to economise on a US$13,000 scope that has a waiting list.

Thanks Greg. Though it is not the TEC this time, it's good to know about pack & send as an option. I totally agree that a good service and full insurance is a must for these type of scopes.

I had an expensive scope sent across the country. Brilliantly packed by the seller. It arrived in fabulous condition and the collimation is perfect.

He had a corporate shipping account, so was able to secure a very competitive price, but the freight company didn't offer insurance. I've also heard that many freight insurance policies exclude glass (Pack and Send charge a premium for glass). What I did was ring my insurance broker who confirmed that as I had paid for the scope in full, before dispatch, it would be covered by my home insurance policy. Can't say that every home policy is going to be as accommodating, but if you don't ask, you'll never know.

Used pack and send to my first lx90 to Brisbane arrived to buyer safely. Later purchased an Lx90 from Adelaide pack and send went and picked it up the scope and shipped to me safely. Approx cost both times was about 190. you can go to hour nearest depot and watch them pack it.
