Ok, this is not a thread glorifying war so please don't infer this. This is just a remembrance, given the young age of the pilots involved, of a pivotal air battle at the beginning of WWII.

We remember the poignant words from a speech by Winston Churchill

Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few

Plus, I love Spitfires :D

Oh, Prince Phillip was rather amusing during the commemoration.

Yes,

They were so, so young, as were many many others who never grew old. RIP.

As for Phil the Greek, an oxygen thief and a complete waste of space.

Cheers

Phew, I thought you meant Andrew the Greek Geoff :) :P

Rather poignant stuff.

I seriously resent the remark made by GeoffW1 that Phil the Greek is a waste of space etc. He spent the entire war on warships, firstly escorting
Australian troop ships in the Indian Ocean, and then saw much action.
He saved his ship, and was awarded a medal for valour. He was , at 21yrs, one of the youngest second in commands of a destroyer in the
history of the Royal Navy.
