Greetings all,

Just sharing a re-process of a M20 I captured back on 28th March at F10... I think its a bit of a improvement over the first time I posted with the same subs.
Does any one think it possible to resolve the double stars in the core of the "trifid" pink nebula big uneven blobs in a 8" SCT?

The unevenness of the stars shape does not look like a tracking fault (I think) but seems to be wanting to and perhaps nearly splitting apart.

Thanks for looking.

colour is very nice Mariusz.

Your 8 inch scope should resolve as well as any scope discussed on IIS under typical seeing conditions - what you actually get will depend mainly on how good the seeing is on the night, how well the scope temperature is stabilised and how well it is focused and tracked.

Thanks Ray... I know that I'm limited to seeing vs tracking, but I'm more curious about the central stars in the HII region and whether it is physically possible to resolve the double stars using a 8" SCT.

I have never seen any amateur photo of M20 with resolution so high where those stars were split, only seen them split in Hubble images.

Looking at them in virtually all amateur pics those stars seem to take on a lumpy look, that coincides with the shape in the Hubble pics if they were blurred together but surrounding stars do not exhibit the same shape, so the reason is not tracking or seeing.
