collimation

Hi Guys,

i dont suppose theres anyone local to perth / Willetton who could help me with collimation. Ive bought a cheshire eyepiece etc after having used a cheap laser and i have a feeeling my scope is ridiculously out. and no mater what i do i cant seem to bring it back to rights.

ive tried following the astrobabies site but for some reason just doesnt seem to want to go right.

That part of the video when he placed the secondary mirror on the paper to trace it was scary along with the part when he inserted the plastic ties through the focuser next to his secondary mirror. These steps can scratch the secondary mirror and are unnecessary. The old fashioned method of using a sight-tube to center the secondary mirror under the focuser will do just fine and will avoid potential damage to the secondary mirror.

Thanks for the links. I understand what its trying to acheive.. i just cant quite get it there.. not sure why.. ill keep trying anyways...
