That's a nice field Rick. Amazing colours and a lot going on - especially in the wider one.

Love it Rick!

Now designated my winter target (that's IF the weather clears ever!)

This is a nice area Rick. I especially like the wide field showing a big variety of DSOs. Nicely captured and processed.

Thanks, Peter. I do love a big sensor. I'm especially looking forward to using the U16M with the AP140 for some wide work. It is currently enjoying a trip back to Andor for repairs.

Thanks, Lewis! I predict some good weather coming up. I'm off overseas again soon. My sacrifice may help the folks at Astrofest :)

Thanks, Geoff. There's so much happening in and around that FOV.

Ta, Paul. I did consult your image along with a few others from the superstars when I was processing this one

Thanks, Greg!

Ta, Geoff. I'll show you the techniques I used at the workshop next Saturday.

Thank you, Steven.

That's an awesome shot Rick! Lots to see. Nice mix of Ha, reflection and dark nebula that you have balanced well.

I'm dying to have a go at this, but the weather has decided to be cloudy forever.

SHOO! Scram! Come on, get out! :P

It's getting kinda frustrating. Almost tried last night, but then the damned fluffy crap rolled in again, just like now.

Wonderful, Rick.

There is a structure at about 2 o'clock from centre and 30% of the way out that looks for all the world like a transparent crayfish. The image is filled with similar enchantments. Lovely detail.

Best,
Mike

Superb Rick,
I just wish you would come to the dark side and image galaxies instead...

Thanks, Kevin. We've had a couple of decent looking nights here but that's to be expected around full moon :)

Thanks, Marc & Troy!

Thanks, Mike. I think I can see the crayfish!

Ta, Clive. It's hard to get enough time on galaxies when you have to cart all the gear out to dark skies. We are working on some at SRO so stay tuned for some northern beauties if we can ever get the equipment issues sorted.

Thanks very much, Tim.

Fantastic piece of work Rick, beautiful sparkling stars, lovely colours and natural looking dark areas that are not jet black/clipped, with beautiful transitions too...if there is a better version of this area with that sort of field of view...I haven't seen it :)

Rick, is there Ha in this shot?

Thanks, Mike! I was hoping to do a better job of the reflection neb but that can wait for next time. Probably needs more blue data to do that justice.

No Ha, Brett. It's a straight LRGB.

Cheers,
Rick.

What an excellent image Rick - cannot think how you might improve it!

Just for secondary interest, there may be a big PN (1-41) in this field, as suggested in http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=110261
and in pages 19-20 of http://iopscience.iop.org/0004-637X/745/1/59/pdf/0004-637X_745_1_59.pdf
I think that the core and hints of the main lobes are visible in your image.

Thanks, Ray! I knew that this object was GN18.06.6.01 and probably a PN but didn't realise it had lobes. Must try some long NB exposures in this area in future.

Thanks very much, Marcus.
