Like most things, including people, they're a lot cuter when they're little.
Ran over these guys hiding in some long grass while slashing fire breaks recently.

Cute! I was trying to figure out how you got your hands in that position until I realised there are two separate people in the photo. Time for my coffee...

Are they related to the ones that are excavating under your observatory, Peter?

Hares vs Bunnies. We've got both. Rabbits seem to be the burrowers whereas hares seem to nest in the long grass. Brandy the border Collie loves them equally but like me, is growing a little slow out of the starter's blocks these days. This pair were nestled down in some long grass and the slasher went right over the top of them leaving them lying there, very surprised, but otherwise unhurt.
I had a look at old recipes of jugged hare and the like but it will surprise nobody to learn that once you've peered into those little brown eyes, the thought of eating them becomes rather difficult to sustain.
