Taken at Linden Observatory.

Note: I am so impressed by the Canon EF F/1.4 (stopped down to F/2.5); the majority of the cluster of stars in the Lagoon Nebula are resolved right to the core, as can be seen in the crop.

You have captured the essence of the central Milky Way with great effect!

I am so impressed with it that I (and I hope you don't mind) have displayed it in My Favourites album at my web site. I also hope you don't mind but I have tweeked it, Sidonio style, to reduce the green cast and highlight the incredibly intricate web of dark lanes that you have captured and the interstella reddening that dominates this region as well as the colour in general

tis similar. the skyglow from sydney is pretty bad in the east but the rest of the sky isnt too bad... unfortunatly the night this was taken the transparency was really bad and there was so much dew it was like trying to breathe under water!!!

Mike: Thank you for the kind words, an honour indeed. I have no problem with you displaying the image on your site. Nice reprocess, too. Interestingly, one of my post-processed versions looked very similar to the one you've placed on your site. I opted for the more yellow/green one, though; it had more of an impact to me, although, the red version is probably closer to the truth. :) Oh, and my name is spelt correctly. :D

Scott: Cheers! I'd say that Kulnura is quite a lot darker than Linden is. David is right in that there is an incredible amount of glow in the sky from Sydney. It's not as noticeable in Kulnura.

Thank you for the praise and compliments. :)

I would love to capture more images and post them, however, something always has to go wrong everytime I try and shoot. It seems as though I can only produce one image every two months, which really bites.

Like tonight, for example; I drove out to Linden Observatory with Louie (atalas) to be met by pristine weather. I started drift aligning and the clouds rolled in. I had planned to spend the night imaging at prime focus.

We waited four hours for the clouds to disperse, but they weren't budging. We packed up our equipment, got on to the highway, and guess what happened? You guessed it; the clouds dissipated!

/me hurls fists and yells abuse.

One of these days, it'll all come together.
